Mavis Staples Poster
Poster and collateral from her sold-out 2016 concert at KVCC. She had just won a Grammy and I felt it would be criminal if I didn’t try to graphically convey this woman’s pure joy and enthusiasm for music. I think the photo and color scheme carried that quite well, I just had to find a way to keep the pertinent details out of the way of that. The typography intentionally recalls jazz and soul albums from the 1960s. While the color scheme and some of the background is lifted directly from the release she was promoting, the type treatment and photo manipulation are all mine.
